Explanation
The Youth Olympic Games (YOG) are for athletes aged 15 to 18. The first Summer YOG were held in Singapore in 2010, then in Nanjing in 2014 and in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2018. In 2018 there were new events such as BMX freestyle, kitesurfing, beach handball, sport climbing, karate, breakdancing and futsal (mini football). Sports verbs: win, lose, score, draw, pass, throw, catch and serve (in tennis, to start the point). Their third forms: won, lost, scored, drawn, passed, thrown, caught, served. To report a result: “We won 3–1.”, “The match ended in a draw.”
Worked examples
At the Youth Games a 16-year-old gymnast has won a bronze medal. The team from Argentina scored two goals in futsal, but the other team passed the ball better and won.
