Life in villages

Textbook: p. 10
GoalDescribing different kinds of village (smart, vintage, eco) and comparing them with your own.
New words
smart village · zamonaviy (aqlli) qishloqvintage village · eski zamon qishlog‘ieco-friendly · tabiatga zarar qilmaydiganenough · yetarli
Explanation

A smart village has services such as internet, clean water, a school, a clinic and electricity. A vintage village is kept like a museum so that tourists can see how people lived long ago. An eco-village has only a few people who live in a way that is friendly to nature, for example by using solar energy. Enough comes before a noun (“enough water”) but after an adjective (“warm enough”). To compare villages we say: “A smart village has better services than a vintage village.” To say what is the same we use both: “Both villages have clean water.”

Worked examples
My cousin lives in a village near Nurata. It is small but comfortable: there is a school, a clinic and fast internet. The air is clean, so I feel healthy there.
An eco-village has about one hundred people. They grow vegetables without chemicals and use the sun to heat water. It is quieter than a town, but there are fewer shops.
Class activity

“Village table”: the group fills a three-column table smart / vintage / eco with one difference and one similarity for each.

Practice
1
Match the words with their meanings: eco, vintage, enough.
2
Complete: This village has ___ water for everybody. (enough)
3
Compare a smart village and a vintage village (services).
4
Why do some people choose to live in eco-villages?
