What makes a good companion?

Textbook: p. 82
GoalTalking about a good companion: character adjectives; expressing preference with would rather.
New words
companion · hamrohlively · jonli, quvnoqquiet · xotirjamgo hiking · piyoda sayohat qilmoq
Explanation

Adjectives that describe a companion: kind, quiet, noisy, lively, strong, rude, polite, lazy, helpful. We show preference with would rather + base form: “I’d rather walk.” (I would rather ... = I prefer to ...). Negative: “I’d rather not go.” Answering suggestions: “Let’s watch a film.” — “I’d rather play football. What about you?” Reasons: because. A good companion is patient, kind, follows safety rules, respects everyone’s ideas and helps others. When you travel, always go with adults.

Worked examples
Laylo is lively and helpful: she always carries the first-aid kit and tells funny stories. Botir is strong but lazy: he never wants to carry the tent. Nilufar is quiet and polite, but she is often late. Who would you choose for a camping trip?
— Let’s go to the cinema. — I’d rather go to the park. It’s sunny today. — And you, Rustam? — I’d rather stay at home and read.
