Let’s go shopping!

Textbook: p. 46
GoalTalking about shopping, brands and logos; how much / how many, some / any.
New words
shop · do‘kon, xarid qilmoqlogo · logotipproduct · mahsulotprice · narx
Explanation

A brand is the name of a product and a logo is its sign. An advert makes a product known. Shopping questions: “Which shop sells it?” “Do you like the advert? Why?” With countable nouns we ask how many: “How many apples do you need?” With uncountable nouns we ask how much: “How much milk do we have?” We also use how much for prices: “How much is this bag?” Some is used in positive sentences and offers: “We have some bread.” “Would you like some tea?” Any is used in questions and negatives: “Do we have any eggs?” “We haven’t got any sugar.” Countable: apples, books; uncountable: milk, bread, rice, water.

Worked examples
Shopping list for the weekend: some rice, a litre of milk, three tomatoes and some bread. We haven’t got any eggs, so we need to buy a dozen.
— How many tomatoes do we need? — Four. — How much rice do we have? — Not much. — Is there any sugar? — Yes, there is some in the cupboard.
Class activity

“Logo quiz”: the teacher describes a logo (without naming it) and pupils say what product it is and where it can be bought.
