Project: my hobby
Textbook: p. 59
GoalProject: describing and presenting your hobby.
New words
equipment · jihozalone · yolg‘izin a group · guruhdapresentation · taqdimot
Explanation
Project plan: 1) What is your hobby? 2) How often do you do it? 3) What things do you need for it? 4) Do you do it alone or in a group? 5) How long have you done it? In the presentation you can show pictures or photos as evidence. Example: “My hobby is photography. I do it at weekends. I need a camera and a computer. I do it on my own, but I show my photos to my family. I have done it for two years.” At the end ask the listeners a question: “Do you want to try it?” Safety: for risky hobbies (cycling, swimming, hiking) take an adult or a coach with you and use a helmet or other protective equipment.
Worked examples
Hobby: cycling. I do it on Saturdays with my cousins. I need a bike and a helmet. I have cycled for three years. It is exciting and healthy, but we always wear helmets and ride in the park.
Hobby: baking. I make bread with my mother on Sundays. We use flour, water and salt; my mother puts the bread in the oven because it is hot. I have baked for a year.
Class activity
“Hobby fair”: each pupil shows their hobby at a desk and visitors walk round and ask two questions.
Practice
1
Write two questions of the plan.
How often do you do it? What things do you need for it?
2
Start a presentation in 3 sentences: My hobby is ...
For example: My hobby is drawing. I do it every day. I have drawn for four years.
3
What do you need for safety? For cycling
a helmet

Why do pictures improve a presentation?
Listeners see clearly and remember better.
