Explanation

The advertising word family: advertisement / advert / ad (noun), advertiser (the company or person), advertising (the business) and advertise (verb). A slogan is a short, memorable phrase, for example “Just do it” or “Taste the rainbow”. A good advert has a simple logo, colour, a short slogan and a clear benefit. Places for ads: television, radio, newspapers, posters and the Internet. To make your own advert: 1) choose a product, 2) draw a logo, 3) write a slogan. Use the imperative: “Try it!”, “Buy one, get one free!” A slogan does not have to be a full sentence.

Worked examples
Product: a school bag called “Zoom”. Logo: a small rocket. Slogan: “Light bag, light day!” It is advertised on posters and on the Internet because pupils see them every day.
— Which slogan do you like most? — “Fresh every day.” — Why? — It is short and tells you what to do.
