Project: an Olympic leaflet
Textbook: p. 35
GoalProject: making a leaflet about the Olympic Games; writing facts in an organised way.
New words
leaflet · varaqahost city · mezbon shaharofficial · rasmiymascot · talisman
Explanation
A leaflet must be short, interesting and well organised: a title, a picture and 4–5 facts. A sample fact box for Rio 2016: Host city – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Dates – 5–21 August 2016; Motto – “A new world”; Mascot – Vinicius; Sports – 28. To say dates: “The Games began on the fifth of August and ended on the twenty-first of August.” Ordinal numbers: first, second, third, fifth, twenty-first. Phrases that attract readers: “Don’t miss ...”, “Come and see ...”. When you look at other groups’ leaflets, find similarities and differences: “Our leaflet is like theirs because ... but ours has ...”.
Worked examples
Leaflet: “Tashkent Youth Games!” Come and see 12 sports! Dates: 10–20 June. Mascot: Zumrad the swallow. Don’t miss the opening ceremony in the evening of the tenth of June!
Our leaflet is like Group B’s because both have a mascot. It is different because ours has a map of the stadiums.

“Leaflet walk”: groups put up their leaflets and others walk round and write one similarity and one thing they like.
