Xayriddin Saloh
Xayriddin Saloh (Salohiddinov) was born on 15 January 1934 in Tashkent. While still at school he joined the literary circle led by the older poet G‘ayratiy, where he learned the secrets of creation with peers such as Erkin Vohidov, Yusuf Shomansur and Sayyor. His first poem was printed in 1950. He graduated from the history-philology faculty (evening department) of the pedagogical institute in 1957 and worked at the newspaper “O‘zbekiston madaniyati” and the magazines “G‘uncha” and “Gulxan”. He has collections such as “Chashma” (1959), “Ikkinchi imtihon” (1961), “Ishqim va rashkim” (1965), “Tug‘yon” and “Na’matak” (1969), and the dastans “Laylo”, “Yangroq hayot” and “Toshkent bilan suhbat”. He also translated works by Byron, Heine, Lermontov, Shevchenko and Hamzatov into Uzbek. Xayriddin Saloh died on 5 June 1969.
