Explanation

The dastan “Ravshan” was told by the bakhshi Ergash Jumanbulbul o‘g‘li (1868–1937); Hodi Zarif wrote it down in 1928 and it was printed in 1941. Go‘ro‘g‘libek has adopted sons Avazxon and Hasanxon; Hasan’s son is Ravshan, Avaz’s daughter Gulanor. Go‘ro‘g‘libek wants to betroth Gulanor to Ravshan, but Avaz refuses. On a magic ring from the peri Yunus, Ravshan sees the picture of Zulxumor, daughter of Qoraxon of Shirvon, rides to Shirvon on Jiyronqush and finds her, but the servant Oqqiz betrays him; Qoraxon keeps him forty days in prison and demands that he change his religion, which Ravshan refuses. A letter that Zulxumor sends with a myna bird reaches Hasan, who rides G‘irko‘k to Shirvon, kills Qoraxon with the help of four bald brothers – Aynoq, Jaynoq, Ersak and Tersak – and saves his son from the gallows. Ravshan marries Zulxumor, and they return to Chambil to continue the wedding.

Worked examples
