Embroidery stitch types
The practical work is done on a 20 × 20 cm piece of plain fabric. First the rules of labour protection, safety and hygiene are repeated. A 0.5–1 cm fringe is made by pulling threads at the edges, then lines and marks for the samples are drawn. The back, suv, stem, loop and popop stitches are sewn one by one from the technology card, each in a different colour. The finished sample is pressed first on the wrong side and then on the right, stuck in the album and each stitch is named. Threading the needle, cutting thread with scissors and ironing are done under the teacher’s supervision, holding sharp tools correctly.
Sample plan: draw a 20 × 20 cm square in the notebook and plan the place of the 5 stitches. Fabric work is done with the teacher: needle, thimble and hoop.
