Trades in the electrical field
After school, technical and vocational schools (texnikums) teach trades in the electrical field: electrical technician for installing, servicing and repairing power stations, electrical equipment and installations; technician-mechanic for installing, operating and repairing heat equipment and boiler installations of thermal power stations; assembler of electronic products; technician for installing, adjusting and repairing electronic equipment; technician-technologist in transformer production. All these trades need precise knowledge, attention and strict observance of safety rules: there is no room for error when working with electric current. An electrician switches the power off before starting work and tells others he is working. Modern life is unthinkable without electricity: light, communications, transport, study, medicine – all depend on it.
Trade poster: the pupil makes an A4 poster on one electrical trade: name, what it does, what tools it uses, a safety rule. Pencils and coloured pencils.
