Trees, a wonder of nature
Textbook: Part 3, pp. 17–19
GoalList the benefits of trees; pick out key facts from an informative text.
New words
tree · daraxtoxygen · kislorodshade · soyaplane tree · chinor
Explanation
Trees clean the air: they take in carbon dioxide and give out oxygen. They give shade and fruit and protect the soil from wind and water. The textbook has the informative text “Daraxtlar — tabiat mo‘jizasi” (Trees, a wonder of nature) mentioning unusual trees of Uzbekistan. We do not repeat it; we read our own text. When reading an informative text we notice the title, new words and numbers.
Worked examples
“Grandfather Plane Tree”. In our neighbourhood grows a plane tree more than a hundred years old. Three people cannot embrace its trunk. On summer days adults drink tea in its shade and children play. The leaves catch dust and clean the air. In autumn the fallen leaves fertilise the soil. Every spring we plant a new seedling next to the plane tree so that our neighbourhood is never without shade.
Facts: a tree gives oxygen; gives shade; protects the soil.
