Explanation

There are four seasons in a year: spring, summer, autumn, winter. They change in this order every year. The textbook has a poem about seasons by Po‘lat Mo‘min, where the seasons are shown like children of one family. This is called personification: we give a thing human qualities. We do not retell the poem; we read our own text about seasons.

Worked examples
“Grandfather’s orchard”. My grandfather works in the orchard all year. In spring he plants seedlings and loosens the soil. In summer he waters the trees and waits for the fruit to ripen. In autumn he picks the harvest and stores it. In winter the orchard rests, and grandfather repairs his tools. “If each season does its job, the year is complete,” says grandfather. I help him in the orchard too.
Order of seasons: spring → summer → autumn → winter. Winter: December, January, February.
Class activity

“Season circle”: standing in a circle, children name the seasons in order; each adds what people do in that season.
