Textbook: Part 2, pp. 18–21
GoalUnderstand the work of the ambulance and how to call it; read a text in interview form.
New words
ambulance · tez yordamdoctor · shifokorpatient · bemorduty shift · navbatchilik
Explanation
Ambulance staff work shifts day and night, because illness and accidents can happen at any time. In Uzbekistan the ambulance phone number is 103. The textbook has the story “Tez yordam – yordamga shay” (The ambulance is ready to help) by Zuhra Ro‘ziyeva, in which the boy Boburjon asks his mother questions about the ambulance. We do not repeat it; we read our own text in interview (question–answer) form. An interview has a questioner and an answerer; questions begin with “what?”, “when?”, “why?”.
Worked examples
“A talk with the paramedic”. – Hello, brother Dilshod, what does your job consist of? – When a call comes I go to the patient and give first aid. – What should one say when calling? – First say your name, your address and what happened, calmly. – Do you ever rest? – Of course, shifts change. But whenever there is a call, we are always ready. – Thank you, we wish you well!
Remember: the ambulance number is 103; it must not be dialled for fun.
