The boy who looked for kindness
Textbook: Part 2, pp. 62–66
GoalFind chances to do good in everyday life; give your own opinion of a character’s actions.
New words
good deed · yaxshilikhelp · yordamattentive · e’tiborlidiary, daily · kundalik
Explanation
To do good we need not wait for a big chance: small care is also a good deed. The textbook gives an excerpt from the book “Yaxshilik izlagan bola” (The boy who looked for kindness), where a boy shows kindness to a creature on a cold day. We do not repeat that excerpt; we read our own story. When we give our opinion of a character’s deed, we say “In his place I would ...” with a reason.
Worked examples
“The diary of good deeds”. Every evening Behzod wrote one good deed he had done in his notebook. On Monday he carried water for the old neighbour. On Tuesday he took a friend under his umbrella in the rain. On Wednesday he read a book to his little sister. At the end of the week Behzod leafed through the notebook and saw that he had done many things. He thought that you need not search for kindness; it is enough to pay attention to what is around you.
Giving an opinion: “In Behzod’s place I would bring medicine for an ill neighbour.”
Class activity
