Explanation

The truth brings trust; a lie destroys trust. The textbook has the poem “Chin va Yolg‘on” (Truth and Lie) by Po‘lat Mo‘min, an Uzbek author who wrote many poems and stories for children; his works such as “Hunardan unar” are famous. In the poem Truth and Lie are shown as persons. We do not retell the poem; we read our own text. The great poet Alisher Navoiy also always called people to speak the truth.

Worked examples
“The broken vase”. Playing with a ball indoors, Dilshod broke his mother’s favourite vase. At first he wanted to say: “The cat knocked it down.” But the lie sat in his heart like a heavy stone. Dilshod went to his mother and said: “I broke the vase, forgive me.” His mother was a little upset, but pleased by her son’s honesty, she hugged him. Dilshod felt relieved.
Proverb: “Yolg‘onning umri qisqa” (A lie has a short life). A lie is soon found out.
