Explanation
Kashkadarya is a region in the south of Uzbekistan. Its centre is the city of Qarshi. Here is the ancient city of Shahrisabz (Kesh): Amir Temur was born near this city. The region is also known for natural gas extraction. The textbook has the poem “Qashqadaryo” by Normurod Narzullayev. We do not retell the poem; we read our own text. In expressive reading we match the loudness and speed of our voice to the content.
Worked examples
“Guests of Kashkadarya”. In the summer holidays we went to Kashkadarya. In its centre, Qarshi, hospitable people welcomed us. In front of the ruins of the Oqsaroy in Shahrisabz the guide said that Amir Temur was born near this city. Wheat and cotton grow in the fields, and livestock graze on the mountain slopes. The name of the region comes from its river. I will never forget Kashkadarya’s wide fields and its hard-working people.
