Explanation

Parts of a plant: root, stem, leaf, flower, fruit, seed. We eat some of them. For example: carrot — root, celery — stem, spinach — leaf, broccoli — flower, apple — fruit, peas and rice — seeds. Sentences: “We eat the root of a carrot.” “We eat the leaves of spinach.”

Worked examples
A carrot is a root. Spinach is a leaf.
We eat the seeds of rice and peas.
Class activity

“Plant parts”: draw a plant. Children stick vegetable pictures on the right part: carrot — root, apple — fruit. They say it in a sentence.
