Explanation
To say what is happening now we use be + verb + -ing: I’m playing, you’re reading, we’re playing, they’re running. Questions: “What are you doing?” “What are they doing?” Adding -ing: play — playing; read — reading; run — running (double n); swim — swimming; write — writing (drop the e). Sports: baseball, tennis, basketball, football.

Class activity
“What am I doing?”: a child mimes (swimming, reading, running). The class asks “What are you doing?” and the child answers “I’m swimming.” Then pairs act with “We’re …”.
