Explanation

Fruit and vegetables: lemons, limes, watermelons, coconuts, grapes, mangoes, pineapples, pears, tomatoes, onions. Plural: most words add -s: lemon — lemons. But tomato — tomatoes and mango — mangoes (add -es). Grapes are usually plural.

Worked examples
I like mangoes and pineapples. I don’t like onions.
My grandmother has pears, grapes and tomatoes in her garden.
Class activity

“Market game”: children play seller and buyer. The buyer says “Two lemons, please.” and the seller hands over the fruit: “Here you are.”
