Explanation
A chant is a short rhythmic rhyme. On page 102 the book has chants for Units 1 and 2 that practice “What’s that?”, “What are those?” and “What are you doing?” We make our own chant: we clap the rhythm, group one says the question and group two answers.
Worked examples
What’s that? What’s that? — It’s a frog, it’s a frog!
What are you doing? — We’re clapping, we’re clapping!
Class activity
“Make a chant”: each group writes its own question and answer in 4 lines, says it with a rhythm and performs it for the other groups.
