Textbook: Part 4, pp. 50–53
GoalKnow when to say magic words.
New words
excuse me · kechirasizplease · iltimosthank you · rahmatplease, go ahead · marhamat
Explanation
Magic words are: “salom”, “rahmat”, “iltimos”, “kechirasiz”, “marhamat”, “xayr”. Salom is for meeting. Rahmat is for someone who helped. Iltimos is when we ask for something. Kechirasiz is when we make a mistake or block the way. These words bring people closer. In the textbook the child agrees to his grandfather’s condition and tries one magic word.
Worked examples
“On the bus”. The bus was crowded. A man stepped on Aziz’s foot. He quickly said: “Kechirasiz.” Aziz smiled and said: “It’s nothing.” Then Aziz gave up his seat for an old woman. She said: “Thank you, my son.” Everybody’s mood lifted.
Kechirasiz is for a mistake. Rahmat is for help.
