Animal tales I
Textbook: Part 3, pp. 8–12
GoalRead an animal tale, describe the characters and draw the conclusion.
New words
hare, rabbit · quyonfox · tulkishadow · soyacowardly · qo‘rqoq
Explanation
In animal tales animals speak like people and have human traits: the fox is cunning, the wolf is greedy, the hare is timid. The textbook has the Uzbek folk tale “Och bo‘ri” (The hungry wolf), in which the animals the hungry wolf catches trick him and escape. We read our own tale about a hare.
Worked examples
“The hare and the shadow”. In the evening on the road a hare saw his own long shadow. “A big animal is chasing me!” he cried and ran. A fox asked: “What are you running from?” The hare said: “A big animal behind me!” The fox laughed: “That is your shadow.” The hare stopped and looked: the shadow stopped too. The hare felt ashamed and smiled.
Conclusion: think before you are afraid.
