Summer, we missed you!
Textbook: Part 2, pp. 67–70
GoalName the signs and benefits of summer; compose a short text about summer.
New words
summer · yozholiday, vacation · ta’tilto ripen · pishmoqharvest · hosil
Explanation
Summer is a hot season with long days. Fruits ripen in the orchards and children’s holidays begin. The textbook has the tale “Yoz qayerga berkinadi?” (Where does summer hide?) by Boris Snegurenkov, in which Summer runs from Winter and hides in tree buds, coming out again when spring arrives. That is why people say “Bahor keldi — yoz keldi” (Spring has come — summer has come). We write about the value of summer in our own text.
Worked examples
“Summer has come”. Summer brings the school holidays. Apricots, peaches and grapes ripen in the orchards. We swim in the river and go to Grandfather’s village. The sun sets late and the days are long. I also like helping Grandfather in the orchard.
