Explanation
Nosiruddin Rabghuzi lived in the second half of the 13th and early 14th centuries and was born at a place called Raboti O‘g‘uz in Khorezm. In the preface to the work he mentions that his father Burhoniddin was the qazi (judge) of Raboti O‘g‘uz. “Qisasi Rabg‘uziy” was written in the year 710 of the Hijri calendar, i.e. in 1309–1310, at the request of Nosiruddin To‘qbo‘g‘a. The author praises this official in the work and dedicates a short poem of praise to him. Although he was a major poet and prose writer, no information survives about his other works.
Worked examples
Example: The year 710 of the Hijri calendar corresponds to 1309–1310, so the work belongs to the early 14th century.
Example: That the work was written on commission is seen from the author naming his patron in the preface and the praise poem.
