Explanation

The textbook introduces Rashod Nuri Guntekin (1889–1956; in standard Turkish spelling Reşat Nuri Güntekin) as one of the famous Turkish writers of the twentieth century; he was born in Istanbul in 1889 and graduated from the Turkish language and literature department of Istanbul University in 1912. Several of his stories were printed in the 1920s; his first novel was “Sirli qo‘l” (1921), and later the novels “Xazonrezgi,” “Tamg‘a” and “Yashil tun” were published. The work that brought him fame in world literature is the novel “Choliqushi,” written in 1922; it was translated into Uzbek by Mirzakalon Ismoiliy in 1959. Many stories, novels and plays remain from the writer, and in Turkey his works were printed in twenty-four volumes (1958–1961); he died in 1956.
