Stylistics of introductory units
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Make a sentence with each of five introductory units (albatta, balki, afsuski, menimcha, xullas).
For example: «Albatta, men yordam beraman.» (“Of course, I will help.”) «Balki, u kech keladi.» (“Perhaps he will come late.”) «Afsuski, imtihon ko‘chdi.» (“Unfortunately the exam was moved.”) «Menimcha, bu qiyin emas.» (“I think it isn’t difficult.”) «Xullas, ish bitdi.» (“In short, the job is done.”)
2
Make one example each of an introductory phrase and an introductory sentence.
Introductory phrase: «To‘g‘risini aytganda, vaqt yetmadi.» (“To tell the truth, there was not enough time.”) Introductory sentence: «Menga qolsa, bu to‘g‘ri qaror.» (“If it were up to me, this is the right decision.”)
3
Replace the introductory unit in one sentence and write how the meaning changes: «___, avtobus kechikadi» (albatta/balki/afsuski).
Albatta, avtobus kechikadi (“Of course the bus will be late”) – confidence; Balki, … – doubt; Afsuski, … – regret, an unpleasant feeling.
4
Write a short statement for a scientific text using three introductory words of order (birinchidan, ikkinchidan, shunday qilib).
For example: «Birinchidan, tajriba aniq bo‘lishi kerak. Ikkinchidan, natijalar yozib borilishi lozim. Shunday qilib, xulosa ishonchli bo‘ladi.» (“Firstly, the experiment must be exact. Secondly, results must be recorded. Thus the conclusion will be reliable.”)
