Stylistics of means of negation
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Make three sentences with the «-may qo‘ymoq» construction expressing firm affirmation.
For example: «Vazifani bajarmay qo‘ymayman» (“I will not fail to do the task”); «U bu kitobni o‘qimay qo‘ymaydi» (“He will not fail to read this book”); «Maqsadga yetmay qo‘ymaymiz» (“We will not fail to reach the goal”).
2
Make two rhetorical questions (one with a negative, one with an affirmative meaning) and write their meaning.
«Kim ham yolg‘onchini tinglardi?» (“Who would listen to a liar?”) – nobody; «Kim ona tilini sevmaydi?» (“Who does not love their mother tongue?”) – everybody does.
3
Correct: «yozmamoqchi», «ketmamoqda», «o‘qimamoqchi».
«Yozmoqchi emas» (“does not intend to write”), «ketmayapti» (“is not leaving”), «o‘qimoqchi emas» (“does not intend to read”).
4
Make two sentences with «na … na» and write why the negation is stronger.
For example: «Na tun, na kun tinch qo‘ydi» (“It left me in peace neither night nor day”). The repetition stresses the negation twice, firmly.
