Объяснение
A vocative denotes the person or thing to whom the speaker’s words are directed and also expresses an attitude to it: neutral, official, affectionate, solemn or negative. In the official style a vocative gives an official colouring: «Hurmatli Aziza Karimovna, Sizni ota-onalar yig‘ilishiga taklif etamiz» (“Dear Aziza Karimovna, we invite you to the parents’ meeting”). In the colloquial, artistic and publicistic styles it has emotional-expressive colouring: «Bolajonim, charchamadingmi?» (“My dear child, aren’t you tired?”), «Ey ona tabiat, seni asraymiz» (“O mother nature, we will protect you”). To strengthen the address, interjections (hoy, ey) are used or the vocative is repeated. A vocative at the beginning of a sentence is separated by a comma or an exclamation mark, in the middle by commas on both sides, at the end by a comma before it. When it comes in the middle or at the end of the sentence, the emotionality of the vocative usually grows.
Примеры
Official: «Hurmatli direktor, ruxsat bersangiz, arizamni topshirsam.» (“Dear director, if you permit, I would submit my application.”) Affectionate: «Qani, o‘g‘lim, bu yoqqa kel, birga o‘tiramiz.» (“Come, my son, come here, let us sit together.”)
At the end and repeated: «Seni kutdim, onajon, onajon!» (“I waited for you, dear mother, dear mother!”) With an interjection: «Hoy, bolalar, to‘xtanglar!» (“Hey, children, stop!”)
Работа в классе
“Address cards”: a pupil picks a situation (to the director, to a grandmother, to a friend) and says a sentence with a suitable vocative.
Упражнения
1
What does a vocative denote?
The person or thing to whom the speech is addressed and the attitude to it.
2
How is the vocative separated in «Do‘stlar, bugun yig‘ilamiz.»?
Because it stands at the beginning, a comma follows it.
3
Point out the vocative and the punctuation in «Bugun, aziz mehmonlar, biz uchun bayram.»
«Aziz mehmonlar» is the vocative; it stands in the middle and is set off by commas on both sides.
4
Why can one not write «Hoy, direktor» in an official letter?
An interjection and rough tone contradict the official style; an official letter needs a respectful, standard address.
