Creativity and designing a creative project
Creativity is a high level of mind, a complex form of activity aimed at creating new material and spiritual goods, and it belongs to people. Labour is one of the main kinds of human activity, and creativity is a special and higher form of labour. During labour ideas arise about the solution of a problem or about something new; they usually take shape while trying to solve a real problem. In a creative project you show the knowledge and skills you gained not only in technology lessons but in other subjects too; success depends largely on choosing the direction well and on the individual plan of the independent work. The project runs in five stages: preparatory, design, technological, making and final. In this lesson the stages from the earlier chapter are repeated for a “Service” project (clothing, decoration, household item): the need for the product is studied, a sketch and materials list are drawn up, a technological map is written, the item is made following safety rules, the cost is calculated and a presentation given.
Idea cards: each pair writes three small real-life problems (for example keys get lost, a book bends, cords tangle) and adds one solution idea each. Choose the best idea and make a short plan in 5 stages. Choose only safe materials (paper, cardboard, fabric, beads).
