The creative project and designing a field of creative work
A creative project is an independent, result-oriented creative work in a subject; success depends largely on choosing the right direction and organising the stages clearly. The project runs in five stages. In the preparatory stage the topic is chosen and justified: it is checked whether there is demand for the product (marketing is the set of activities aimed at fully meeting consumer demand), a technical task is formulated and similar objects are studied. In the design stage the product’s design and sketch are developed, a model is tried from paper, cardboard or plasticine, and a materials list and working sketch are drawn up. In the technological stage the order of work, the technological map, and tools and fixtures are set. In the making stage the workplace is organised, work follows the map and safety rules are observed. In the final stage the cost price (raw materials, labour and other costs) is calculated, an environmental assessment is made, advertising is prepared and a 3–5 minute presentation is given.
In groups, build a “ladder of stages”: five cards (preparatory, design, technological, making, final) are given in random order; put them in the correct order and write one task for each. Then choose your project topic (a safe, simple item) and write 3 ideas about demand, materials and similar existing items.
