Project: a travel poster

Textbook: p. 75
GoalProject: a travel poster; comparing kinds of transport; reasons for travelling.
New words
means of transport · transport vositasiconvenient · qulayexpensive · qimmatmain reason · asosiy sabab
Explanation

Transport: by plane, by train, by bus, by car, by ship, by bike, on foot, on horseback. Comparing: “A plane is the quickest, but its tickets usually cost the most.” “A bus is cheaper than a taxi, but it is slower.” “Walking is the cheapest of all.” Reasons for travelling (to + verb): to see famous sights, to try new food, to make friends, to learn a language. On a poster: a title, a picture, 4–5 sentences, reasons for the trip and kinds of transport. Sample: “Why go to Shahrisabz? To see the ruins of the Ak-Saray Palace!” Make the poster clear and colourful.

Worked examples
Poster: “Visit Khiva!” Why? To see the old town, to walk on the walls and to taste local food. How? By train, which is cheaper than a plane. When? In spring, because it is not as hot as in summer.
Transport: a car is more comfortable than a bus, but a bus is cheaper. A boat trip on Charvak Lake is slow but very relaxing.
Class activity

“Travel fair”: groups show their posters and the class votes for the best reason and the best picture.
