Explanation

There are seven continents on Earth (some models count six): Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe and Australia/Oceania. The biggest continent by area and population is Asia; the smallest is Australia/Oceania. The continent with the most countries is Africa (54). Facts about Africa: three animal record-holders live there – the African elephant (the heaviest land animal), the giraffe (the tallest) and the cheetah (the fastest; it can run at over 100 km an hour for a short time). The largest hot desert is the Sahara. The highest mountain is Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, about 5,895 metres. The Nile is one of the longest rivers in the world, about 6,650 km (sources differ a little). Superlatives: the largest, the tallest, the fastest, the highest, the longest.
