New words
embroidered · kashta tikilganlong-sleeved · yengi uzunhigh-heeled · baland poshnalicomfortable · qulay
Explanation
The Present Continuous (am/is/are + -ing) describes what is happening now: “I’m wearing a blue shirt now.” The Present Simple describes habits: “At home I wear a T-shirt.” Time words: now, at the moment for the continuous; usually, every day, at weekends for the simple. Clothes adjectives: long-/short-sleeved, low-/high-heeled, casual/formal, embroidered; opposites comfortable – uncomfortable and tidy – untidy. By season: In summer I wear sunglasses and a light shirt. In winter I wear a warm coat, a hat and gloves. Questions: “What are you wearing today?”, “What do you usually wear at weekends?”, “Do you ever wear a duppi?”
Worked examples
Now I’m wearing grey trousers, a white long-sleeved shirt and black shoes. At home I usually wear a comfortable T-shirt and shorts. In winter I always wear a thick scarf.
— What are you wearing today, Malika? — A light green dress and flat shoes. — Do you wear high-heeled shoes? — No, they are uncomfortable. — What do you wear for school? — A uniform.
Class activity
“Who is it?”: the teacher describes a pupil’s clothes (She’s wearing a red scarf ...) and the class guesses who it is.
