A journey across my country

Textbook: Part 4, pp. 58–63
GoalRead a travel account and learn famous places of Uzbekistan; state directions on a map.
New words
journey · sayohatnorth · shimolsouth · janubmonument · yodgorlik
Explanation

In a travel account the traveller tells in order the places seen and events on the way. In the textbook the section “Yurtim bo‘ylab sayohat” (A journey across my country) gives a map and information about regions. We do not repeat it; we read our own travel account. Directions: north, south, east, west. On a map the top is usually north.

Worked examples
“Travel diary”. Leaving Tashkent, we first went to Samarkand and admired the Registan square. Then we strolled along the ancient streets of Bukhara. Heading west, we were inside the walls of Ichan-Kala in Khiva. The city of Termez in the south was the last point of our route. In every city hospitable people welcomed us warmly. From this journey I learned a lot and came to love my country even more.
Direction: Termez is located in the south of Uzbekistan.
