Textbook: Part 1, pp. 10–12
GoalExpress your feelings about school and study; find rhyming words in a poem.
New words
school · maktabto miss · sog‘inmoqdream, wish · orzurhyme · qofiya
Explanation
After summer holidays school waits for us again. The textbook has the poem “Salom, maktab!” (Hello, school!) by Arofatbonu Mullajonova: the child misses school and looks forward to the new school year. We do not retell it. In a poem the ends of some lines sound alike; this is rhyme. In our own text we find rhyming words too.
Worked examples
“The first of September”. Today the new school year began. This morning my sister gave me a flower. I was very happy to see my classmates. Over the summer we all grew a little taller. Our teacher welcomed us warmly. She said we would read many interesting books this year. This year I wish to learn something new every day.
Rhyming pairs: ona – dona (mother – piece), bahor – intizor (spring – eager), yoz – soz (summer – in tune). Their last syllables sound alike.
Class activity
“Rhyme game”: the teacher says a word (for example “yoz”, summer), children find rhyming words (soz, oz ...).
