After summer holidays school waits for us again. The textbook has the poem “Salom, maktab!” (Hello, school!) by Arofatbonu Mullajonova: the child misses school and looks forward to the new school year. We do not retell it. In a poem the ends of some lines sound alike; this is rhyme. In our own text we find rhyming words too.

Our teacher welcomed us warmly. She said we would read many interesting books this year. This year I wish to learn something new every day.
Rhyming pairs: ona – dona (mother – piece), bahor – intizor (spring – eager), yoz – soz (summer – in tune). Their last syllables sound alike.
