Question: “Where are you?” “Where is he?” “Where are they?” Answer: “We’re in the gym.” “They’re on the sports field.” Before place words: in — inside a room (in the library, in the classroom, in the gym); on — an open area (on the playground, on the sports field); at — a point (at school, at reception). “They’re” = they are, “we’re” = we are.
