Explanation
Nocturnal animals sleep during the day and are awake at night, when they look for food. Examples: owl, bat, hedgehog. Their eyes or ears work well in the dark. Sentences: “Owls are nocturnal.” “Owls sleep in the day and hunt at night.” Day-active animals: cows, horses, many birds.

Bats are nocturnal. They sleep upside down in the day.
A hedgehog looks for insects at night.
