Listening: do you have a favorite day of the week?
Textbook: p. 41
GoalListen to a text about a favorite day; say “My favorite day is …”.
New words
favorite · sevimlibecause · chunkiweekend · hafta oxiriwalk · sayr
Explanation
The teacher reads the text below twice. Children listen for day names and what happens on each day. Then they talk about themselves: “My favorite day is …, because …” After “because” we give the reason: “because we have art.”
Worked examples
“My week”. My favorite day is Saturday. On Saturday I have swimming club in the morning. Then I visit my grandmother and we have plov for lunch. I don’t like Monday. We have math and I am tired after the weekend. But we also have art on Monday, so it is not so bad!
My favorite day is Friday, because we have music.
Class activity
“My favorite day”: children say their favorite day with a reason: “My favorite day is …, because …”. The class raises hands day by day and makes a bar chart.
