Explanation

Questions start with a question word: How old are you? — I’m eight. What’s your name? — My name’s Aziza. What’s your favorite color? — It’s green. We answer “Do you …?” with “Yes, I do.” or “No, I don’t.”: Do you like football? Do you have a pet? We answer “Can you …?” with “Yes, I can.” or “No, I can’t.”: Can you swim?

Worked examples
— How old are you? — I’m nine.
— Do you have a pet? — Yes, I do. I have a cat. — Can it swim? — No, it can’t.
Class activity

“Question ball”: children stand in a circle and pass a ball. The child who catches it asks a question (“Do you like football?”), the next child answers and passes the ball on.
