Stylistics of synonyms and homonyms
Ответы — для родителей и учителей.
1
Use three words for “face” (yuz, chehra, bashara) in one sentence each and write their colouring.
For example: «Uning yuzi oppoq edi» (“His face was white”) – neutral; «Chehrasidan nur yog‘ildi» (“Light poured from her face”) – positive, artistic; «Bashara» – negative, colloquial, better not used in speech.
2
Make pairs of sentences with the homonyms «ot», «yosh», «o‘t» (each in two meanings).
For example: «Ot yaydoq yugurdi» (“The horse ran bareback, without a saddle”) – «Bolaga ot qo‘ydik» (“We gave the child a name”); «Yoshi katta» (“He is old”) – «Ko‘zida yosh» (“A tear in the eye”); «O‘t yondi» (“A fire burned”) – «O‘t o‘sdi» (“Grass grew”).
3
Make one sentence with each paronym pair «shox – shoh» and «asr – asir».
For example: «Bahorda o‘rik shoxlari gulladi» (“In spring the apricot branches blossomed”); «Ertakda shoh uch o‘g‘lini chaqirdi» (“In the tale the king called his three sons”); «Bu yangi asr» (“This is a new century”); «Asir qush qafasdan chiqdi» (“The captive bird left the cage”).
4
Rewrite a short announcement replacing «zo‘r» by a suitable synonym.
Original: «Konsert zo‘r bo‘ladi!» (“The concert will be great!”) New: «Konsert yuksak saviyada o‘tadi.» (“The concert will be held at a high level.”)
