GoalProject: a class newspaper – choosing sections, writing and editing.
New words
section · bo‘limeditor; to edit · muharrir; tahrir qilmoqcaption · rasm ostidagi yozuvadvertisement · e’lon
Explanation
In groups we make a class newspaper. First choose sections: Home News (school news), Sports, Children’s Corner, Crossword, Letters, Weather. Think of a name for the paper. Each group writes one section with a headline, a lede, the main text, a picture and a caption. After writing, edit with your teacher: check spelling, clarity and that the facts are correct. Stick the finished sections on a poster. Ask an adult to help with scissors and glue, and do not copy pictures from websites without permission.
Worked examples
Headline: Class 8B wins the school quiz. Lede: Class 8B won the school English quiz on Friday after a close final against Class 8A. Caption: The winning team with their prize, a box of books.
Name ideas: The Class Times, Our Voice, 8B News, The Daily Pupil.
Class activity
Newspaper fair: walk round the finished wall newspapers, read them and ask each group one question.
