Explanation
People create art for different reasons: to express feelings, to tell stories, to record history, to decorate their homes, and to pass on an important idea. An artist says things with colour, line and shape instead of words. When choosing a course, compare what the person likes with what the course offers. Reason: because + clause (She chose the course because she likes drawing animals). Result: so + clause (She likes animals, so she chose Animal Sketching). Wishes: want to / would like to: He hopes to find out how posters are designed. Kinds of art: drawing, painting, sculpture, printing, photography, design.
Worked examples
Course A, Poster Design: learn lettering and bright colours. Course B, Clay Studio: make bowls and small animals from clay. Course C, Photo Walk: take pictures of the city and choose the best for a small exhibition. Dilnoza loves taking photos with her phone, so she would choose Course C. Jasur wants to make something with his hands, so he would choose Course B because he likes working with clay.
Why do people create art? Some artists paint to remember a place they love. Others make a statue to honour a hero. Others draw to share an idea about nature.
Class activity
“Choose the course”: cards with three people and three courses; pairs match them and justify with because / so.
