Explanation

We compare theatre and cinema. Theatre: live performance, actors in front of the audience, every show is unique, contact with the audience, excitement. Cinema: close-ups, special effects, can be watched at any time and repeated, usually cheaper. We use both for two things (Both cinema and theatre tell stories); all is for more than two or a group (All pupils in our class enjoy stories). Both goes with plural nouns. Opinions: In my opinion ... ; I prefer ... to ... because ...; For me ... . Agreeing / disagreeing: I agree with you. / I see what you mean, but ... . Comparing: Theatre is more personal than cinema. Cinema is cheaper than theatre.

Worked examples
In my opinion, the theatre is more exciting than cinema because the actors are in front of you. I prefer cinema to theatre because I can see small details in close-ups and the tickets cost less. Both are good ways to spend a free evening. All my friends like at least one of them.
A: Which do you prefer? B: Theatre, because a live show can never be repeated exactly. A: I see what you mean, but films give me special effects that a stage cannot show.
