Explanation

Charlotte Brontë (1816–1855) published “Jane Eyre” in 1847 under the pen name Currer Bell. Jane is an orphan; she has a hard life with her aunt’s family, the Reeds, and is then sent to Lowood school, where she is first a pupil and later a teacher. She then works as a governess at Thornfield Hall and falls in love with the master of the house, Mr Rochester. On the wedding day it is revealed that Rochester already has a secret wife, and Jane leaves. Another family takes her in and she later learns they are her cousins. When Jane returns to Thornfield she finds the house burned and Rochester blinded; they marry. To summarise, choose the main events and use the Past Simple.
