Law-enforcement bodies
Law-enforcement bodies ensure that laws are carried out, prevent offences and protect citizens’ rights. The Prosecutor’s Office supervises exact and uniform execution of laws and supports the charge in the name of the state in criminal cases. Internal affairs bodies keep public order, prevent and detect crimes and ensure road safety. The State Security Service counters threats to the security of the state and society. Tax and customs bodies supervise execution of the law in their fields. Justice bodies handle legal services and civil registry records. For emergencies there are service numbers: 101 – fire service, 102 – internal affairs, 103 – ambulance. A child in a hard situation can turn to parents, a teacher or the child helpline. Names and structures of bodies may change, so checking official sites is useful.
Role play: pupils practise calling 101, 102 and 103 (name, address, what happened); real numbers are not dialled so that the practice is not a false call.
