The Armed Forces and patriotic military education of young people
The Armed Forces are a state organisation created to defend the country’s independence, territorial integrity and people from external threat. They act according to law and do not answer to political parties. The President is the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. They include branches such as ground forces, air defence and air forces, as well as other military formations. Defending the Motherland is a citizen’s constitutional duty. Military service is performed in the manner set by law; the law provides alternative service and exemption in cases such as health or belief. Minors are not called up. Patriotism also shows in love of the homeland and respect for its laws and others’ rights. For safety: if you find an unknown explosive object or ammunition, do not touch it, move away and report to 102 or 101.
Discussion: “Is defending the Motherland done only with weapons?” Pupils give examples of patriotism in daily life.
