An independent state and human rights
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Write five rights of an independent state in your notebook and give one real-life example for each.
For example: own currency – paying in so‘m; state language – official documents; border – border control; Constitution – a school law lesson; state flag – holiday ceremonies.
2
Write two of your rights and two of your duties.
For example, rights: to study, to rest; duties: to prepare for lessons, to respect others’ rights.
3
In two or three sentences explain why “legal illiteracy” is a problem.
A person who does not know the law cannot defend their rights and may break a rule without realising it.
4
Look at the Constitution with your family and find one rule about children.
For example: parents must raise and support their children until adulthood; the state protects them.
5
Explain why the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is an important document.
It was the first time human rights were recognised as shared rules for the whole world, and it became a guide for states.
