With the winter snow
Textbook: Part 2, pp. 57–61
GoalDescribe snow games and their safety; enrich vocabulary through a word-chain game.
New words
snowball · qor to‘piice slide · yaxmalakboot · etikhat · qalpoq
Explanation
Snow brings much joy to children, but in games one must be careful. The textbook has the poem “Qish qori bilan” (With the winter snow) by Po‘lat Mo‘min, which describes children’s winter games. Po‘lat Mo‘min wrote many works for children. We do not retell the poem; we read our own text. In a word chain the new word starts with the last letter of the previous one: qor – rang – gul – lola.
Worked examples
“Snowball game”. On the morning of the first snow we went to the school yard with classmates. We split into two teams and played with snowballs. Our teacher reminded us: “Do not throw snow at faces, do not put stones inside.” Then we all made a big snowman and fixed a carrot for the nose and coal for the eyes. Our hands froze, but our faces turned red with laughter. Back home, mother gave us hot soup.
Word chain: qor – rang – gul – lola – alla.
